3-year-old Skye Savren-McCormick got to be a flower girl at a wedding.

Despite practicing at home, she still took a big fistful of petals and dropped them before taking her first step down the aisle, leaving wedding guests in tears.

Skye had been given a 10% chance to live due to childhood cancer and needed a bone marrow transplant. She got one from a stranger, Hayden Hatfield Ryals, who later invited Skye to be the flower girl in her wedding Now in remission, Skye’s presence at the ceremony was unforgettable.

Diagnosed with juvenile myelomonacytic leukemia at under a year old, Skye spent 10 months in the hospital. Ryals, who signed up to be a bone marrow donor in college, was her perfect match.

Despite developing a second form of cancer post-transplant, Skye survived after more treatments Ryals and Skye first connected through anonymous letters via the Be the Match organization and eventually met in person, forming a lasting bond.
